Tetra AquaArt light (update 3)

The efficient Customer Services department at Tetra contacted me today regarding my light problems. They have offered me another replacement lid and to take my current lid in for investigation. They have been very fair but I’m getting tired of these ongoing problems. I almost feel like saying ‘forget it’ so I don’t have to put my life on hold waiting for delivery and mess around trying to detach one lid and attach another (one of the plastic screws that holds the lid in place has cracked already). However, I will have a think over the weekend and make a balanced decision on Monday!

Tetra AquaArt light (update)

Well, my new lid arrived and everything was great. I could see the molly babies who have been growing fast. Then, yesterday, the light went out and will not switch on. I contacted TetraUK by email 24 hours ago but they haven’t got back to me yet. It sounds so implausible: the replacement for the faulty lid being faulty itself. I’m wondering if anyone else is having similar problems with their Tetra AquaArt light. If not, then I’m just very unlucky!

New Tank!

After some careful consideration, I’ve decided that I’m ready to move on to a larger tank. I’ve opted for a Fluval Roma 200l aquarium and cabinet. There’s a lot of choice out there but I selected the Fluval Roma range for a number of reasons:

  1. Hagen products have a good reputation.
  2. The tank comes with Fluval 205 external filter and 200w Fluval Tronic heater.
  3. In my opinion, the Fluval Roma range is reasonably priced (especially as aquariums-delivered.co.uk offered 20% off Fluval products over the weekend!)

I had to make a bit of a compromise over the lighting. I had hoped to get T5 lighting but felt that the T8 lighting of the Fluval Roma would be adequate for my (and my fish’s!) needs.

So, I’m excitedly awaiting delivery!

Tetra AquaArt light (update)

Having contacted TetraUK, it appears my aquarium lid is one of a faulty batch – just my luck! However, Tetra have been brilliant and dealt with the problem speedily. Apparently, a new lid will arrive in the next couple of days (free of charge, of course!). I’m really looking forward to being able to see my baby mollies again!

Tetra AquaArt light

I switched on my Tetra AquaArt light and nothing happened. Darkness. I’ve had the tank running for under a month with occasional use of the light. I am hoping that the bulb will not need replacing at such an early stage.

Born survivor

At the weekend, I was watching the fish in the biOrb.  I caught a glimpse of a molly fry swimming in the pirate ship ornament.  This was a big surprise as I had removed the pregnant molly from the biOrb several days before she delivered and returned her to the biOrb when I thought all the fry had popped out.  Also, the baby fry has survived for nearly two weeks in a tank with a number of comparatively large fish who are always on the look out for a meal!

Molly fry – day 12

The baby mollies are growing quickly. They have doubled in length since their birth and are now approximately 1.5cm long. There is some variation in size. Dalmation markings are also becoming visible on a number of the fry.
